Michelle Jimenez

Vice President El Paso, Texas

Murray College Senator. Dwight Hall Student Executive Committee. Student rep on the Public Safety Advisory Board. Ran the Season of Giving Drive that matched 300+ Yalies with 300+ local K-8 students. Has seen the Senate pass proposals unanimously and get ignored. Ready to try something different.

Restore full funding and resources for students on financial aid
Repeal time, manner, and place restrictions on student gatherings
Restore cultural center funding and PL hours slashed this year

Fair Pay, Fair Treatment

Raise the student minimum wage to $22/hr
Protect contracted faculty and staff positions
Join the Fair Food Program to protect farmworkers in Yale's supply chain
Negotiate union contracts for dining hall, facilities, and staff in good faith

Be a Real Neighbor

Divest from ICE-contracted companies
Pay a fair share to the city of New Haven
Use Yale's resources and privilege to actually serve the community

No More Closed Doors

When administrators show up to the Senate, they come with promises they can't keep. They make decisions behind closed doors and rarely seek student input. The YCC shouldn't be a rubber stamp for admin PR. It should be a real channel of student power.

Here's what we'll actually do differently:

Publish private meeting notes with administration so you know what's really being said
Hold weekly town halls for students to voice concerns directly
Publicly break down the endowment so everyone understands where the money goes
Use the YCC's tools and reach to channel student frustration into organized action
Build democratic decision-making infrastructure that puts student voices at the center
Stand up for what we believe in as your reps, no matter the personal cost

Yale Profits from ICE

Yale invests in Palantir, Anduril, and other companies that power ICE's surveillance and deportation operations. ICE is actively terrorizing communities in New Haven.

Yale's dollars should fund our futures, not the companies endangering them.
